From Personal Experience to Professional Dedication
The inception of Active Aging New England, LLC is deeply rooted in my personal and professional journey, which was shaped by meaningful experiences and a steadfast a commitment to enhancing the lives of older adults.
While pursuing my Doctorate in Physical Therapy at the University of Rhode Island, I had the unique opportunity to live with my now-husband's grandmother. This period allowed me to witness firsthand the challenges and joys of aging, fostering a profound connection and understanding of the older adult experience. During this time, I also began teaching balance-focused group exercise classes, igniting my passion for working with older adults and recognizing the transformative power of movement in a group setting.
As a licensed physical therapist, my career has been dedicated to serving older adults in both outpatient and inpatient settings. I have had the privilege of helping countless individuals improve their mobility, strength, and overall quality of life. Through these experiences, I have seen the wisdom, history, and resilience that older adults carry with them, and have witnessed firsthand the incredible impact that proper exercise and movement can have on their health and confidence.
In pursuit of effective, evidence-based solutions, I came across the Stay Active and Independent for Life (SAIL) program: a strength, balance, and fitness initiative for adults aged 65 and older. Impressed by its positive results, I became a certified SAIL Master Trainer, aiming to expand its reach across North America.
My vision for Active Aging New England is to create a community where older adults are empowered to live independently and confidently. Through a combination of virtual and in-person SAIL instructor trainings, local group exercise classes, community fall prevention presentations, and individualized home fitness sessions, I strive to provide comprehensive services that address the unique needs of older adults.
Through Active Aging New England, I am committed to delivering high-quality fall prevention programs that not only enhance physical health but also foster a sense of community and support.
